It would be safe to say that most toy drawers start with either a vibrator or a dildo. If I could hypothesize, I suspect that the first toy is probably related with how a woman first masturbates (insertion or external stimulation). Of course I am just guessing here.
Our toy drawer has a number of dildos. Hard, soft, silicone, wood, steel. She has even shown a desire for glass and granite. And as we showed earlier with the Bon Bon, Jean likes a nice, hard...object between her legs. OK, so it does not always have to be solid.
Dildos come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and materials. From the more realistic, veined, cock facsimile, to the teal shaped ... item we have here, there are as many to choose from as there are women to put them into. Some dildos are thin, others thick, some curved, some straight. The Njoy is steel. The teal one here is silicone. We have wood too.
Choosing a dildo is a very personal decision and finding a favourite will take some experimentation. And sometimes, what works for one occasion, might not work for another. Jean commented that the first dildo we used on the Bon Bon was too curved and she needed something straighter, but was afraid the wooden ones would be too long. She took a shorter one that came with her strap on set (more on that in a later post) and tried again. It seems to have been a successful ride from what I have been told.
When choosing a dildo, remember that you cannot use silicone lube with a silicone dildo and make sure to wash them between uses. Otherwise, the one that fills you, touches you and makes you scream is what works for you. And if what works for you is several different types, well, you can always get a bigger drawer.
We have a drawer full of toys and we just don't use them as much as we should. So come with us as we put them to good use, try out new ones and rediscover how much fun sex can be.

Sex toy ordering addiction?
Additions to the collection |
Now, on this last trip I took I was gone for a week, again on work, but this time out of the country. Between schedules and ridiculous international roaming rates on my cell phone we really only chatted a bit while I was gone. During one these chats Allan sent me a link to some cock rings - the Tantus Vibrating Cock Ring and a silicone Tantus ring. These links were actually the birth of this blog as I mentioned that we already have at least 3 or 4 cock rings and haven't used them recently. In fact, our toy drawer is bursting full of goodies that we haven't been using enough. Segue to the idea of randomly grabbing a toy once a week and using it, quickly followed by the idea of blogging about it.
So of course, when the first box arrived after I got home, I laughed and kissed Allan and told him he's cute. He just can't seem to resist getting toys. The first box was actually rather practical all things considered. He ordered some electric shavers. Allan and I both prefer it when I am shaved smooth and our current electric shaver was sputtering a bit. I'll post about them (there are 3 of them!) after the first use, probably tomorrow morning. The little tube propped up in the NJoy box is orgasm enhancer that came free with the shavers. I will definitely be giving that a try!
The next box to arrive was from Liberator. It turns out he did order those cock rings. And the NJoy Fun Wand. And apparently that was enough to get a free toy bag made out of the same microfiber Liberator puts on their shapes.
And now today, the 3rd (and final??) box arrived, this time from Freddy and Eddy. It contained the Hustler Cat and Mouse Vibrator, two bottles of Sliquid Sassy Lube and two Gear Essentials cock rings (the Titan .6" width in charcoal and the Master in brushed metal), and keep in mind we already have the Titan .4" width in charcoal.
Maybe he's just making sure we have plenty of content to blog about. And maybe I need to find him a 12 step program. Or maybe I'll just lay back and enjoy the ride! Keep reading for details on all the new additions.

Viva La Bon Bon!
The Liberator Bon-Bon, with...bonbons |
This is the newest toy in our collection, and to date, it hadn't been used yet. Allan likes to surprise me with presents when I go away, so several months, when on a week long trip to California, he took advantage of a Liberator sale and I came home to a rather large box. With work and holidays and one thing after another, it just hadn't found it's way into use, which I thought made it perfect for starting our project.
When Allan came home last night, I had it set up on the bed, the blanket out (he told you it's indispensable in our sex life), and crochless panties and a matching bra with slits on in hot pink. I was ready. As it turns out, so was he.
The Bon-Bon is a great concept. Normally, when we play with dildos we reach a point when our hands are occupied else where, I get very turned on, and next thing you know, I've gone and squeezed the dildo out. The Bon-Bon did a great job of holding it in place, in perfect position to straddle and ride. It let Allan watch, which he absolutely loves to do, while I slid up and down, getting myself off, and generally having a great time letting my exhibitionist side out. The only modification I might make next time is to pick a straighter dildo - this one was a bit too curved for the angle it entered at but it certainly was enough to get the job done.
We started talking about a rating system for our toys, ranging from get that damn thing away from me to whew, do that again with several steps along the way. I would put the Bon-Bon near the top - Oh, I could do that again with potential to move up, given some practice and a different dildo.
I guess this means that I now have to start trying out dildos...which reminds, me, I have a pair of wooden ones...I wonder how they would work...

The Source
I will admit that there are a variety of places out there to get toys. Online, in person, the places to get toys are as varied as the toys themselves, but finding a place where you can trust you are getting not only good value for your dollar, but know that the toys are good quality and reliable is just as important. Liberator makes quality toys. Tantus makes quality toys. But there are a number of other quality toys that most people, not in the industry, are not exposed to.
And it is important to have a good source.
There are a number of both chain, and local stores that you can go to for quality toys, but we have found that Freddy and Eddy offer not only a wide variety of toys of all shapes and descriptions, from basic dildos to advanced cock rings, but they also offer reviews (both their own and real customers) that give you solid information. And their prices are also well in line with most other web sites. Not only that, but their podcast, From Behind Our White Picket Fence provides you with a wealth of information as well as product reviews and a good laugh at the less then serious side of sex.

The Foundation
The many colors of the Fascinator Throe |
At the bottom of it all is the Liberator Fascinator Throe. Not, not in the bottom of the drawer. In fact, it is probably the one toy that never makes it to the drawer. It is the one of the most important things we own. The throe, or blanket as we call it is microfiber on one side and satin on the other with a waterproof barrier in between. There are a number of things you can use it for. Shaving, high lube activities, but we need it for a fundamental reason. She squirts when she comes. Copiously. Without the blanket, whatever surface we are on would be soaked through and stay that way for an extended period of time. So the throe for us is a critical foundation element to our sex play. It is also a nice warm blanket for snuggling naked on the couch...at least when it is fresh out of the dryer.

Welcome to the Toy Drawer
Have you ever had one of those moments, when you realize you have a drawer full of toys and you have not used even half of them? Worse, you have only used one or two and you cannot remember the last time you used them? We were in that position tonight as we were looking at yet more interesting things to add to our collection. It was then that we realized that is exactly what it was. A collection. And becoming more like museum pieces each day. And these are not cheap toys. There are NJoy Pure Wands, the Liberator Wedge and Tantus Acute in there, just to name a few. And there they sit. Idle.
So we decided we needed to take them out and use them. Have fun with them. Remind ourselves why we bought them instead of snow tires for the car, or that new CD. So that is what we are going to do. Take them for a spin, put them through their paces and generally get off with them. And we are going to bring you along for the ride. Why? Why not? Most people buy cheap toys. If you are going to put down $50 on a toy, you might want to find out if someone else really liked it. Or if it just ended up in a drawer.
So consider us the suckers that did it first. And if you like what you read, let us know. If you don't, well, tell us anyway, but don't expect it to change.
Oh, and we will have pictures. Just to keep things interesting. Let us know how we are doing.
